There was a time when home appliances were simply a means to an end. Cookers were for cooking. Refrigerators were for refrigerating. Dishwashers washed your dishes. While these facts have remained constant, Smeg understands that the modern consumer is more discerning. People want to create narratives around the rooms of their home and, for many, the kitchen is a place of harmony. Whether you favour a contemporary or vintage aesthetic, you can count on Smeg for forward-thinking innovation.
Smeg’s freestanding ovens deliver outstanding performance to help you change up your meal repertoire by the day. Innovative functionality such as induction technology, wok burners, Thermoseal cavities, and pyrolytic cleaning is complemented by Smeg’s iconic styling. Smeg offers dual fuel, electric, and gas units to suit all kinds of cooking styles and demands. From classic 60cm models to units in excess of 100cm, you’ll find an option to suit.
Thermoseal technology creates a controlled cooking environment within Smeg’s single, double, and compact built-in ovens. If you want to retain nutrients in your dishes and cook with greater versatility, you can scope out the range of combi-steam ovens. Smeg defines style as "the way a product communicates with its surroundings and enables users to interact with it.”
The Smeg company was formed in 1948 by Vittorio Bertazzoni, in the northern Italian town of Guastalla. The Bertazzonis were steeped in manufacturing, boasting decades of craftsmanship prior to Smeg's foundation. Transitioning their skills into Smeg came naturally. The Italian post-war climate spurred a revolution of economic growth, as more people settled down to start families and establish homes.
The home was now a place that echoed a distinct identity. This cultural context laid the platform for Smeg to manufacture appliances that are cult objects – high-performing products that deserve to be shown off.
