About La Germania

La Germania has its origins in the Italian town of Guastalla, situated in the Po Valley. This fertile stretch of land yields some of the country’s finest produce, from tasty Parmesan cheese to juicy, deep red tomatoes. When a region is so famed for its produce, it’s no surprise that quality cooking appliances should emerge from the same place. Now six generations into family operation, La Germania provides expertly engineered cooking appliances to countries all around the world.

In the 19th century, Francesco Bertazzoni noticed a new type of wood-burning stove used for heating trains between Austria and Italy. Inspired by the innovation at play, Francesco and his son Antonio began making stoves to send all over the country. The Bertazzoni family opened their first factory in 1909. The company increased its production as awards began to roll in during the 1920s. When La Germania switched to making gas stoves in the 1950s, other brands sought to follow their lead. In the 1960s, they would begin exporting internationally and, by the turn of the century, their appliances could be found in over 60 countries.

Today, La Germania takes strides in their industry by upholding the principles of good design, fine engineering, and quality construction. While the company continues to extend its reach, it is always firmly rooted to its Italian heritage, with an emphasis on family, culture, and style.
