In 1937 Scottish immigrant Edgar Ferrier and his sons began constructing cast iron stoves in a shed located at the back of their Melbourne home, and the Chef name was originated soon after by Edgar's wife. Just over a decade later, Chef made its commercial debut with the invention of Australia's first pressed metal stove, and over 30 years after that, they created the first natural gas cooktop burner. Today, Chef is now a subsidiary of the Electrolux Corporation and are known worldwide for their innovation and reputation for good quality cooking appliances.
