A BORA cooktop is designed to fit your dream kitchen, so you don’t have to design around it. Thanks to engineering ingenuity, home cooks can enjoy an enhanced cooking experience. BORA’s integrated cooktop extractor draws odours, grease particles, and vapours directly from your cookware. Compared to a conventional overhead rangehood, this is a more efficient way to ensure you breathe easy while you cook.
Thanks to BORA’s clever cooktop extractor, steam and smoke are drawn downwards so it doesn’t get in the way when entertaining or cooking together with family. The quiet motors make it easy to converse with your loved ones so you don’t have to raise your voice over a droning rangehood. A BORA cooktop delivers a communal and connected cooking experience.
BORA’s downdraft system means every home cook can prepare meals comfortably and efficiently. Tall cooks don’t have to worry about hitting their heads on the sharp corner of a fixed rangehood or needing to hunch while they keep an eye on the pots. Short cooks don’t have to reach up to slide out a retractable rangehood and, because steam is directed downwards, those who wear glasses can see clearly all the time.
BORA cooktops are designed to integrate into a wide range of kitchen design configurations. The BORA system is engineered to combine components with precision to maximise space without compromising on performance. You don’t have to worry about an unsightly overhead rangehood overwhelming or interrupting the flow of your kitchen space. Your BORA cooktop will blend seamlessly with different kitchen designs and space requirements. BORA gives you the freedom to design your dream kitchen.
Surface Induction cooktops are designed to provide a superior cooking experience, using electromagnetism to directly heat compatible cookware. Complementing the induction cooking zones, are two different types of extraction - exhaust air or recirculation.
The intelligent design of a BORA cooktop and vapour extractor makes the unit easier to clean compared to an overhead rangehood. Components that come into contact with vapours, grease particles, and smoke can be easily accessed and removed through the inlet cleaning. The compact size of these parts means they are a breeze to hand-wash or clean in the dishwasher, while the induction glass ceramic cooktop can be easily wiped down and cleaned.
BORA’s genesis began with a problem: unsightly and noisy overhead rangehoods. And then a question: how can we modernise the traditional rangehood so it integrates better with contemporary kitchens? Willi Bruckbauer, the visionary behind BORA, asked this question when he was working as a master carpenter, while building clients the kitchens of their dreams. But sometimes he would hit a wall because space-consuming extractor hoods would disrupt the continuity of the kitchen design. So Bruckbauer decided to come up with a better solution.
In 2006, he developed and patented his first cooktop extractor system: the BORA Professional. This revolutionary appliance efficiently draws cooking vapours downward instead of upwards, and directly from the cooktop, instead of letting smoke and steam rise. Applying the basic principles of fluid mechanics, this efficient extraction process lets home cooks breathe easier, improve visibility, and eliminate bulky overhead rangehoods.
BORA’s pioneering mindset has resulted in rigorous research to truly understand what modern kitchens are missing. This has led to further developments and innovative ways to make the extraction system less intrusive.
The years that followed saw rapid growth and industry recognition for BORA. In 2012, the BORA Classic was awarded the prestigious red dot product design award. In the same year, BORA expanded internationally, building foundations in other European countries and Australia. In just over a decade, this young and innovative company has redefined our understanding of how a rangehood should look and function, while continuing to adapt to the ever-changing modern kitchen.
