Easter in 2025 presents a rare opportunity to maximise time off using minimal leave. Whether you’re heading off on a getaway, planning some day trips or settling in for some cosy movie nights, here’s how to make the most of this break.
In 2025, the Easter public holidays, Anzac Day and weekends align perfectly, allowing many Aussies to enjoy a 10-day break while using just three days of annual leave. While school holiday dates vary by region and school, this period aligns with the holidays for most students.
Here’s how it works:
Good Friday – Friday 18 April (Public holiday)
Easter Saturday – Saturday 19 April (Weekend)
Easter Sunday – Sunday 20 April (Weekend)
Easter Monday – Monday 21 April (Public holiday)
Take leave on Tuesday 22 April, Wednesday 23 April, and Thursday 24 April
Anzac Day – Friday 25 April (Public holiday)
Weekend – Saturday 26 April and Sunday 27 April
If you’re in New South Wales, Australian Capital Territory, Victoria, South Australia or Tasmania, daylight saving time ends at 3:00am on Sunday 6 April 2025, when clocks move back one hour. This means lighter mornings and darker evenings, which is good news if you’ve been struggling to get out of bed in the mornings. Daylight saving time will resume on Sunday 5 October 2025, when clocks move forward again.
Queensland, Western Australia and the Northern Territory do not observe daylight saving, so clocks remain unchanged.
With evenings getting darker and no school or work in the morning for many, Easter is a great time to bring the family together for movie nights. Whether everyone takes turns picking a film, or you work your way through the Harry Potter or Star Wars sagas.
If you’re thinking of upgrading your TV, you’ll find some big discounts on RRP right now. Whether you’re after a 4K smart TV, an OLED for cinematic quality, or a budget-friendly option, there are plenty of choices from leading TV brands like Samsung, LG, Hisense, TCL and others.
There are a few very good reasons you should never try to bring a new TV home from a store, but with Appliances Online, that’s not an issue. With our free next-day delivery (Mon-Fri when in stock), you’ll be set up in time for the Easter break without the risk of transporting it yourself or being charged to get it delivered.
Here are some more ideas for making the most of your time off this Easter:
A staple of the Easter holidays in NSW, the Sydney Royal Easter Show runs from March 22 to April 2, offering everything from carnival rides and produce displays to wood chopping competitions and baby farm animals. Most States and Territories have similar events, from the Melbourne Easter Show and Perth Royal Show to Brisbane’s Easter School Holidays Fun Festival.
With cooler weather setting in, it’s the perfect time for a cosy weekend away. Head to the Blue Mountains, Yarra Valley or Tasmania for scenic hikes and fireside relaxation.
Spend an afternoon baking Easter treats like hot cross buns or chocolate nests - great for getting the kids involved, especially if you plan on baking the buns in an air fryer.
For an easy adventure that you don’t need to pack the car for, set up a tent in the backyard for the kids. With darker skies - but without the deep chill of winter - it’s a great opportunity to sizzle up some snags and spot some star constellations before heading inside for a movie.
Board games, trivia nights and group-friendly video games like Mario Party are great options for Autumn days. Invite a couple of families to bring their favourite games with them, tell the kids to get off their phones for a couple of hours and enjoy an afternoon of good old-fashioned play.
We deliver QLED and OLED TVs, and the rest of our huge product range, to 95% of Australia’s population with Appliances Online's legendary FREE delivery*.
We can usually get your new TV to you by the next day (Mon-Fri) if it’s in stock. Most stores don’t offer this, because TVs are fragile, but our delivery teams are super careful and undertake regular training. PLUS, if you’re getting rid of an old TV, we’ll take it away for recycling when we deliver your new upgrade.
You can view a huge range of TVs here, or if you want to find out more, check out our TV Buying Guide or call us any time - 24/7 - on 1300 004 500.
