Grilled Donut Icecream Sandwich

Ingredients

4 x Krispy Kreme original glazed doughnuts

100g strawberries

2 tbsp unsalted butter

Icing sugar

4 scoops plain strawberry ice cream

Chocolate topping

Method

1. Preheat the grill to medium heat - close the lid and let preheat

2. Slice the doughnuts in half, buttering the cut sides with a thin layer of unsalted butter

3. Grill cut side down first, watching closely so to not burn - about 40 seconds

4. Flip and repeat, being extra careful on the sugar side to ensure the sugar doesn't burn - this side will only take 15-20 seconds, so be careful not to burn

5. Remove from grill let cool to a comfortable warm temperature

6. Cover warm doughnut base in thin slice strawberries

7. Top the doughnut with a scoop of ice cream and drizzle heavily with chocolate topping, put the top on and dust with icing sugar and full strawberry on top 

Tips & Tricks
  • Tip#1: Glazed donuts work best, however any donut will also work. When using donuts with icing sugar, do not grill sugar side down, allow the heat to transfer allowing the topping to melt.Tip#2: Use any combination of ice cream, fruit, topping - the options are delicious and endless.
