You can remove the shaver head assembly and replace it with the trimmer device and then put the shaver head back on after using it, however over the years (about 3 years) this assembly connection became looser so the head of the shaver now comes off every now and then when shaving, especially when pressing down to get a good close shave, or the skin on your face is sticky when humid. The shaver itself is excellent, I have no problems with cutting performance of it, and I have actually bought another Philips shaver that is similar but will probably not attach the trimmer for fear I will loosen the connection over the years.

The shave quality is good, BUT: I've had it just over two years and the head keeps falling off, to the extent that I now have to be very careful at what angle I use it at. This is a design fault. Also badly designed is the on-off switch. It's a button placed exactly where I want to put my thumb when shaving! I feel let down by Philips. Having used a Philishave for 30 years previously this one has only lasted just over 2 years. Very poor design.
