With Father’s Day fast-approaching, the temptation to buy Dad a typical gift of ties, socks or gift voucher will be running high.

While the celebratory day for our Mums might automatically make you think of giving her a new appliance, is there anything stopping you from making a similar purchase for Dad?

With that in mind, here are our top three reasons to buy Dad an appliance this Father’s Day.

Dads love coffee

They say variety is the spice of life, but when it comes to coffee, those of us around the Appliances Online office know exactly how we like our brew – and your Dad probably feels the same way!

Nespresso recently released it latest model, focusing on personalisation and catering to even the fussiest of coffee drinkers.

Dubbed Nespresso U, the compact machine features a 0.8-litre removable water tank, magnetic drip tray, a compartment to store up to 12 used coffee capsules and an energy-saving function.

The plastic unit comes in a range of colours (such as black and orange) and offers three serving sizes – served in under 30 seconds – as well as the added option of frothing milk in the accompanying Aeroccino unit.

As an added incentive, Nespresso is also offering between $50 and $75 cashback on selected machines – including the U, Maestria and Lattissima ranges – until September 9.

Terms and conditions apply, visit the Nespresso website for details.

Dads love to eat

We’ve talked about the Tefal ActiFry before, but just in case you haven’t heard – it can produce one kilo of delicious fried chips in just one tablespoon of oil, has a dishwasher-safe removable bowl, lid and paddle, and includes a 60 minute timer.

Any excuse that Dad might have about cooking being too difficult are put to rest by the easy-to-use ActiFry, and he’ll be guaranteed to cook delicious and healthy snacks every time!

If your Dad prefers to chow down on a pie rather than hot chips, the Breville Pie Maker BPI640 will make light work of homemade pastries.

With four pie moulds, a pastry cutter and a light to tell you when the pies are ready, Dad can whip up his own creations before sitting down to watch some footy.

Dads love to be outdoors

It may not feel like it yet, but summer is on its way – which means that it won’t be long until we’re be enjoying long nights sitting outside eating a BBQ dinner.

If your Dad loves nothing more than standing over the flame grill, then perhaps it might be time to update his outdoor BBQ.

The Beefeater Discovery Plus 4 Burner BBQ features a porcelain enamel frame, rust-free cast iron cook tops and stainless steel roasting hood with glass viewing window – everything Dad needs to whip up the perfect dinner for the whole family.

You might also decide to use the Bromic Patiopal Outdoor Heater COMP710-3 to complete your Dad’s outdoor entertaining area, offering guests a source of warmth so that they can enjoy the outdoors longer.

All the way from the land of the flightless bird, Krissy brings a part of New Zealand culture to the Appliances Online content team. And although she is adamant she does not say 'fush and chups', she can't deny her continuous use of the term 'sweet as' and her ongoing argument with her team on the correct name for jandals (thongs). One thing is for certain, however, her passion for her kiwi slang is matched with her love for sharing news, hacks and buying tips for all things appliances! Krissy's favourite appliance is the Tefal Cook4Me multi cooker, as she believes it's ok to let an appliance do all the work for you.
